Legislating for Web 2.0 – Preparing for the Communications Act?

2008’s SCL Policy Forum – the third since its inauguration in 2006 - arrives at a time when the warnings about new law and regulation just over the horizon come into full view. Europe is fast approaching a new set of Directives to regulate European law, from four directions: • The Audiovisual Media Services Directive was enacted on 18 December 2007; • The new review of the Electronic Communications Services Framework (5 Directives and a Regulation) is taking place in the course of 2008; • The Electronic Commerce Directive remains under constant review and is in tension with several national laws; • The Consumer Acquis (8 Directives) is currently being reviewed.

Attendance at the Policy Forum will largely be by invitation only.  There will however be a limited number of places available for those who wish to attend the sessions on either or both days.

For both days:
The cost for SCL members is £400 + VAT (£470)
The cost for non-members is £600 + VAT (£705)

Reduced rates for full-time academics and graduate students specialising in IT law will be available on request. For further details please contact caroline.gould@scl.org

The cost of attending on either Monday or Tuesday only is  £250 + VAT (£293.75) for members and £350.00 + VAT (£411.25) for non-members.   Please note that places for one day only cannot be booked online.  Please email caroline.gould@scl.org to reserve your place and request an invoice.
