Sponsorship

Our Mission
The Society for Computers and Law is the leading UK organisation focusing on the development of IT-related law. SCL membership extends across the globe. It is a registered educational charity. SCL’s mission is to inform and educate legal and technology professionals, academics and students and the wider audience on the impact of IT on law and legal practice through the promotion of best practice, thought leadership, and the fostering of a global tech law community.

About SCL Membership
We have 1800+ members globally.
Our membership is made up of tech lawyers and tech law experts working in private practice, in-house, and as consultants, academics, and barristers.
Our members range from students to trainees to senior partners and the judiciary.
Our membership is drawn from leading law firms as well as global technology and commercial companies, leading academic institutions and barristers’ chambers.

How we deliver our work

Our website scl.org is the membership hub and features our considerable archive of tech law articles, news, and resources. The website receives 18000+ global visits monthly.

C&L Magazine and SCL Monthly News Review – expert news and articles available exclusively online for members to download.
40+ training events each year. Devised and delivered by experts our events are open to members and the wider tech law community.
Our flagship events such as the SCL Annual Conference, SCL Data Protection Update, SCL Annual IT Contracts Update, the Masterclass series and our Tech Law Essentials Programme routinely attract 100+ attendees.

Why sponsor SCL?
The Society for Computers and Law (SCL) is a registered educational charity, and therefore sponsorship of SCL can also be described as a charitable donation. Your support of SCL means that the Society can meet its charitable objectives, maintain its student schemes, and continue to educate and support our tech law community. Sponsorship packages will vary according to each event and are advertised ahead of time on the SCL website.

Other ways to sponsor SCL Training and Events

Hosting and sponsoring our evening meetings, half-day masterclasses, seminars and other events.
Hosts providing a suitable venue and refreshments and in return receive:

  • The opportunity to provide a Chair or speaker for the event
  • Profile-raising – your organisation’s name will appear on all promotional materials, with a link to your website
  • The chance to be published on the SCL website by writing a meeting report after the event
  • 4 free places at the event for your colleagues
  • The opportunity to welcome others interested in tech law issues, including in-house counsel, to your offices (it doesn’t hurt to show them that you really do have state-of-the-art facilities).
  • The satisfaction that goes with helping SCL fulfil its charitable aims of education and thought leadership.

Host a hybrid SCL event – £650 + VAT

We are so excited to be able to offer the majority of our events as hybrid. However – there’s a hybrid event and then there’s a really good hybrid event. If you are really interested in hosting an event but don’t have all of the hybrid equipment listed here, we have the solution!

SCL has partnered with the media department at St Mary’s University Twickenham to produce really good hybrid events. The cost of this tech support is £650 and is available where your organisation doesn’t have state-of-the-art facilities for running hybrid events. As a huge thank you, sponsors will all receive a high quality copy of the event recording to share with colleagues and clients.
