SCL – THIRD ANNUAL IT LAW CONFERENCE

August 31, 2003

At first glance, the terms ‘Fun’ and ‘IT law’ are something of an oxymoron. However, delegates at previous conferences will confirm that SCL’s annual IT law conference provides a heady cocktail of outstanding speakers, sumptuous venue, and plenty of opportunities for networking and socialising.

Taking place on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 November at the world famous Bath Spa Hotel, the conference brings together talented speakers from Baker McKenzie, Fox Williams, Wragge & Co, Barlow Lyde Gilbert, Field Fisher Waterhouse, Bird & Bird and Olswang, as well as leading experts from the IT industry.

Friday’s session is dedicated to outsourcing, fast becoming a lucrative money spinner for IT lawyers. Delegates will test their skills with a case study (to be circulated in advance), as well as hearing from experts from Wragge & Co and Barlow Lyde Gilbert.

Friday night is party night. But there’s nothing sadder than the sight of a bunch of middle aged groovers strutting their stuff to DJ Sammy and the Boys of Summer. Far better to enjoy a brandy and cigar in a comfortable hotel bar, after an excellent meal in the convivial company of fellow delegates and speakers.

After an early night, wake up refreshed on the Saturday, ready for an update on the latest case law on warranties and limitation of liability. The last year has been a busy year for the Courts. Find out what judges think about IT projects gone bad (we aim to have a judge from the Technology and Construction Court).

Later that day, catch up on the latest developments in software patenting, e-commerce and privacy, data protection and human rights.

Inspired by Channel 4’s infamous After Dark discussion programme, this year’s conference introduces the industry panel, where talking heads from the IT industry will discuss key commercial and legal topics facing the industry.

All this for £599+vat including dinner, bed and breakfast, lunch and refreshments. Take advantage of the Early Bird Discount fee of only £525+VAT if you book by 10 October and save £74. Can you afford to miss out?
