New Chairman and Trustees for SCL

Richard Stephens is the new Chairman of SCL . He is the first person to act alone as Chairman after years where SCL has had a joint leadership. Richard Stephens had previously been an SCL Trustee. He is currently operating the Law Office of Richard Stephens, where he is able to apply his specialisms of hands-on project law advice and dispute resolution. As well as his overall responsibility as Chairman, he will have special responsibility for membership isues, external relations and finance.

There are two new vice-chairmen, Bill Jones of Wragge & Co and Glen Davis from 3/4 South Square. Glen Davis is to continue as Chairman of the Media Board and thus has special responsibility for the magazine and Web site. Bill Jones is to take special responsibility for northern groups and the South Western Group while new trustee Jonathan Smith (an in-house lawyer with Fujitsu and former chairman of the Thames Valley Group) takes responsibility for the southern groups.

The other newly appointed trustee is Clive Davies of Olswang. Clive will be well known to readers of these pages and those who attend SCL Conferences and courses. He is to have special responsibility for IT law matters. Kit Burden is to continue as a trustee of SCL and will look after the SCL’s interest groups and their programmes.
