The Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) industry, indeed the online marketing industry, is still young. As it matures it is working hard to distance itself from some elements and some practitioners who have perceived the internet as being a playground that is exempt from the law. Equally the law is trying to adapt to the new challenges posed by the internet and online marketing.
At this event we will seek to highlight a variety of areas where SEO and the law interact by explaining some of the SEO techniques; raising some of the issues faced by SEO providers and seeking to address some of the legal issues arising.
Specifically the event will address some of the more underhand tactics used by a small minority of the SEO community/SEO providers as well as above board approaches that pose interesting legal questions and to consider what sort of contractual relationship a client should have with a SEO provider and what sort of recourse, if any, might be available to a client.
It is hoped that the event will stimulate a robust discussion that will engage the audience.
