It’s Friday afternoon (of course) and you receive a panicked phone call from the CISO of your company. She thinks the organisation has suffered a major cyber-attack and she needs your help… Lawyers are increasingly called upon to help organisations respond to cyber security incidents.
The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre is hosting its first legal conference to explain to lawyers who may find themselves part of a response team how it provides support to victims of major attacks in the private sector. Representatives from NCSC’s incident management, cyber operations and technology teams will sit on a panel with legal experts from private practice and a senior member of the ICO legal team taking the audience through the issues they will typically confront in an unfolding incident.
Topics to be covered include:
• What do lawyers need to understand about the threats facing the organisations they advise?
• How should organisations approach notification both to regulators and to the NCSC?
• How does the NCSC assist the victims of an attack?
• How can victims best engage with the NCSC when they have been attacked and what do they need to understand about the respective roles of NCSC and their regulators?
The event will be followed by drinks and networking.
This is a free event aimed at general counsel and private sector lawyers dealing with incident response.
Attendance at this meeting is free of charge. Please note that you cannot book this event online.
