We are delighted to invite you to join us for an evening of celebration to mark SAHM which is now in its sixth year. SAHM commemorates and educates British South Asian history and culture and helps foster better understanding of the diverse heritage that continues to link the UK and South Asia.
As SAHM is about reclaiming the history and identity of British South Asians, it is important for people to be able to tell their own stories. We are pleased to showcase this by having Dr Sam De Silva, Partner and Global Co-Head of the Commercial Practice Group at CMS and Chair of the Ethnic Solicitors Network (ESN) of The Law Society, lead an open conversation with the below prominent South Asian legal professionals.
- Adeep Segkar – Global Head of Commercial, Innovation and Technology Legal at Barclays
- Bushra Raja – Head of Legal at Aon
- Lanka Bandara – Partner at The Burnside Partnership
- Rashpal Kaul – Regional Head Legal Europe, Africa & Asia at Rabobank
- Salma Maqsood – Partner at Porter Dodson and President of the Bristol Law Society
Together, they will share their personal journeys, discuss what it means to each of them to be South Asian, reflect on some of the challenges they have encountered, themes on unity and diversity and share lessons learnt and tips for success throughout their careers.
Following the discussion, guests are warmly invited to join us for a networking reception and refreshments.
Timings:
17:45 – Registration

This event is proudly co-hosted by CMS, The Law Society, the Society for Computers & Law (SCL), The Society of Asian Lawyers (SAL) and the City of London Law Society (CLLS), bringing together voices from across the legal profession to celebrate South Asian Heritage Month.
We look forward to seeing you at the event.
