Katie specialises in resolving complex and valuable disputes where technology is at the centre of the claim. Katie has experience in advising clients in relation to data breaches, including cybersecurity breaches and responding to enforcement action taken by the ICO and other regulators.

Clive Freedman is a Barrister, Arbitrator and Mediator practising at 3 Verulam Buildings. His practice covers commercial disputes generally, including information technology, banking and financial services, arbitration and expert determination. He is co-author of Kendall on Expert Determination, and has contributed to Banking Litigation, Bullen & Leake & Jacob’s Precedents of Pleadings (chapter on IT Disputes), and Electronic Evidence (chapter on electronic disclosure). He is Fellow of the SCL, and a former trustee. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and a Fellow of the British Computer Society and former Chair of its Disciplinary Panel.

Lee is a commercial lawyer specialising in the resolution of disputes, especially disputes arising out of IT projects, outsourcing agreements, telecommunications contracts, software licenses and general commercial disputes relating to the provision of IT and telecommunications products and services. He acts for clients across various industry sectors, including the consumer & retail, life sciences & healthcare, financial services (particularly fintech), recruitment, facilities management, automotive and energy sectors. He also has extensive experience of advising clients on disputes arising out of corporate transactions and on issues relating to fraud.

He is a solicitor-advocate with over 25 years’ experience of litigation, arbitration (ICC, LCIA, AAA) and mediation. In addition to representing clients in legal proceedings, he advises on the renegotiation of terms of delivery and settlement of disputes by way of mediation and other processes.

He also advises clients on issues relating to the use of AI technologies, data protection, data security and claims relating to data breaches and misuse of data. He is a regular speaker at conferences on issues concerning the use, and misuse, of IT and risk management.

Zoe O’Sullivan KC is a robust and experienced advocate who thrives on the challenges of oral advocacy and cross-examination.  She is described in Chambers UK as “very easy to work with and very hands-on”, “very technically able” and “formidably bright”. Zoe’s commercial/Chancery practice spans a broad range including IT and outsourcing disputes, shareholder disputes/joint ventures, directors’ duties, banking and finance, commercial fraud, commodities and shipbuilding. She acts principally for large multinationals and high net worth individuals and is highly experienced in jurisdiction issues and in key interim applications including freezing orders, anti-suit injunctions and applications under section 44 of the Arbitration Act 1996. Zoe is also frequently instructed as counsel in international commercial arbitration, and is regularly appointed as presiding, sole and co-arbitrator in claims proceeding under the LCIA, ICC and UNICTRAL rules.  She is on the List of Arbitrators of the HK IAC.

Gideon specialises in high-value, complex commercial litigation and international arbitration. His work often involves complex conflict of laws and jurisdictional issues, and foreign law or jurisdictions, including China (Mainland and Hong Kong), Singapore, the USA, Russia, CIS countries, the Middle East and Gulf region, various African states and India. These cases often raise complex scientific, technological, engineering, statistical and financial elements which Gideon is uniquely well-placed to deal with because of his maths background.

Tony has concentrated his career on the application of electronics and software, chiefly in IT, telecommunications and manufacturing industries. For 25 years from the early 70’s Tony was deeply involved in the design and test of hardware and software. Latterly the emphasis has been on the provision of expert witness and consultancy services. Mr Sykes has been instructed by such firms as FM Global, Slaughter & May, Herbert Smith, Denton Wilde Sapte, Pinsents , Eversheds and Price Waterhouse and has made frequent court appearances in connection with company litigation, Customs Tribunals and patent infringement.
