If you are an academic, a student, unemployed or subject to economic hardship you may be eligible, for concessionary membership, are set out in the table below.

Becoming a member of SCL entitles you to a number of benefits including the following:

  • Receive six digital issues per year of our magazine, Computers & Law. The magazine carries a selection of content from SCL.org in a convenient format.
  • Attend SCL events. Benefit from the member's rate to book a place at any of our events.
  • Join the SCL LinkedIn community. Guaranteed approval to join our LinkedIn group.
  • Meet and share know-how with other members of our society, and network with peers, clients and contacts.
  • Become an SCL Accredited IT Lawyer. Subject to meeting our accreditation requirements.
  • Read the SCL 'Your Society' information document for members for full details of all we offer.

Professional: £155 / year
Academic: £52 / year
Concessionary: £25 / 6 months - Unemployed or experiencing financial hardship (at SCL's discretion): Please email hello@scl.org to apply
Trainee: Free – please see https://www.scl.org/about/trainees
UK students in full-time education: Free. SCL provides free membership for UK students in full-time education with a valid ac.uk email address. SCL student members are also eligible to attend SCL events at concessionary rates. UK students in full-time education can gain free membership by creating an online account here

Join online

Joining online is currently a two-step process. To join SCL online you must:

  1. Create a username and password on this website, by signing up here; and
  2. Use this username and password to purchase a membership, by clicking here

Payment methods

You can sign up instantly with your credit card. Alternatively, you can request an invoice to be payable by you or your employer (please ensure that you have approval first).
