Sue McLean and Toby Crick, Co-Chairs of this year’s SCL Conference, invite you to attend SCL’s flagship annual event

September 9, 2019

We are the Co-Chairs of the SCL Annual Conference and this year we decided to try use the Conference as a forum to look forward at the trends and technologies that will challenge us (and keep us employed!) over the coming decade.

We wanted to try and frame a set of discussions about the new laws and technologies that will drive our profession in the coming years.

Above all, we wanted to encourage a debate.

The contest between privacy advocates, government regulation and “big tech” is going to be a defining feature of society, never mind IT law, but it will be IT lawyers who deal with the impact of the changes that are under discussion.

Less geo-political but still just as important to the business of IT law are the way in which digital deals are structured and the emergence of new technologies like 5G and the application of data science to the practice of law.

The programme and speakers are now firmed up and while we already have a lot of people coming along to join the discussion, the more the better, so please take a look at your diaries, discuss with your colleagues and join us at the IET on 2 October 2019.

Everyone is welcome but we really would like in-house lawyers, technologists and young up and coming lawyers to attend if they can.

We look forward to seeing you.
