SCL launches free online training initiatives for members
As part of the SCL’s extension of services for our members we have recently introduced two new forms of free online training on our redesigned website. The courses are for SCL members only but the new form of training now means that they can get to grips with leading edge IT law issues without travelling from the office. We are currently offering an introductory half-year, half-price membership of just £45. Members joining now will receive the benefits of membership until 31 March 2007.
1 - FREE WEBINARS
Recorded versions of selected training courses are now available for FREE on the site. Members can watch the ‘webinar’ and then answer the accompanying questions, linked from the webinar page, to qualify for CPD – up to three hours in some cases. The answers are marked instantly online and, once enough questions have been answered successfully, the member’s online training record is updated for future reference.
Topics covered so far include IT Disputes for the Transactional Lawyer, Data Protection and an update on security for e-commerce.
2 – COMPUTERS AND LAW MAGAZINE CPD
Computers and Law magazine is the house journal of the SCL and is published and distributed to members every two months. Now readers can train by using the content of each issue. The member simply reads the relevant articles and then answers questions online related to the content in the same way as described for the webinars above. This training reinforce the knowledge gained reading about the latest developments in IT law. Each successfully completed course qualifies for an hour of CPD.
SCL online training is available for members only and is eligible for Law Society and Bar Council CPD schemes.
