Trainee Group

Maria is a third seat trainee solicitor at Dentons, currently sitting within the Corporate Team. She has previous experience working at Dentons within the patent team and has an LLM degree from the London School of Economics in Competition, Innovation and Trade Law. She wrote one of her dissertations on the risk of algorithmic bias when using AI in the Courts. She has previous experience working within the in-house legal technology team in a London law firm. She is very interested in the ethical use and implementation of AI and how technology can be leveraged to enhance the provision of legal services.

Safwan is co-Chair of the SCL Trainee Group and a second-year trainee at Morrison & Foerster, currently on client secondment to Amazon Music. Since joining MoFo, Safwan has contributed to thought leadership on cybersecurity and AI developments in the EU and UK, and has worked on a range of data protection, online safety and cybersecurity matters for global technology companies. He has also assisted charities in preparing privacy notices and cookie policies. Safwan has a particular interest in the intersection between AI developments and the business of law. Outside of the office, Safwan enjoys watching Jeopardy!, completing the daily The New York Times crossword, and story time with his one-year-old.

Solomon is a trainee at Bristows sitting in the Competition team, and has a track record of being involved with the tech law space. He recently wrote an award-winning essay on copyright and the digital world (soon-to-be published!), and has participated in roundtable discussions on legal tech and Generative AI seminars during his time in Oxford University. Solomon also enjoys giving back, previously serving as Head of Training for a mental health charity, and currently volunteers at a London city farm on the weekends.

Solomon is the Group Secretary for the SCL Trainee Group.

Evie is a first-year Solicitor Apprentice at DLA Piper, currently sitting with the Real Estate Finance and Sport Finance team in the London office. While studying, she wrote academic essays exploring technological advancements and their intersectionality with law and is interested in how law firms keep apace to changes in an environment that is constantly evolving.

Soraya is a second-year Trainee Solicitor at Bristows. Prior to joining Bristows, Soraya completed a BSc in Biomedical Sciences and worked in education. Soraya is particularly interested in the intersection between life sciences and technology, which she explored during her Regulatory seat by helping to advise on the regulation of medical devices, including AI medical tools. Soraya has also enjoyed working in the digital media space with Bristows’ Data, Cyber and Libel team.

Avi Marcus is a Trainee Solicitor at DLA Piper, currently sat in the Technology and Sourcing team. Avi has a keen interest in AI/data centres and telecommunications. Avi is passionate about creating opportunities for trainees to engage meaningfully with the tech law landscape and contribute to innovative projects within the SCL community.

Jina (Woojin) is a first seat trainee at DLA Piper with a wide-ranging experience in outreach, events planning and marketing across diverse industries. She has a strong interest in IT disputes, digital media, and the intersection of technological developments and the public sector. Bringing a mix of legal insight and creative problem-solving, Jina is eager to support SCL’s mission to explore and shape the evolving relationship between law and technology. 

Jina is the Group Engagement Lead for the SCL Trainee Group.

Atlantis is a third seat trainee at Dentons, currently on secondment to NatWest Markets. Having previously sat in Asset, Export and Trade Finance, and Competition, Atlantis gained valuable insight into the role of technology in the legal sector, particularly through the DMCCA and the designation of firms with Strategic Market Status. With a degree in English Literature, Atlantis enjoys incorporating innovative and creative solutions into her work. Outside of the office, she enjoys reading, pilates, and long walks with her dogs.

Savvas is a first-year trainee solicitor at Deloitte Legal, drawing on his previous experience as a Legal Engineer to bring innovative legal tech solutions to life. With a passion for bridging the gap between law and technology, he has a proven track record of transforming legal processes and delivering positive client outcomes using AI and GenAI tools. Savvas holds an MSc in Legal Technology from The University of Law and an LLB (Hons) in Legal Practice from the University of South Wales. Outside of work, he enjoys reading, listening to podcasts and prioritises his well-being with daily workouts.

As a trainee at iLaw Solicitors, my first seat in commercial litigation gave me the opportunity to work closely with innovative clients, including start-ups and entrepreneurs, providing valuable insight into their unique challenges. As I transition to my next seat in IP and Technology Law, I’m eager to deepen my expertise and build stronger relationships within this fast-evolving sector. With experience as a legal journalist for a tech-savvy platform covering emerging tech trends in the legal market, and working with AI to transform legal advice, I aim to bring a cutting-edge, forward-thinking approach to my practice.
