What does the SCL Chief Executive officer do?
As the Chief Executive of the Society for Computers and Law, Caroline is responsible for the Society’s administration and financial management.
Working closely with the SCL Board of Trustees, it is Caroline’s responsibility to develop the Society’s long-term strategy, budget and business plan and to ensure the Society complies with the law and regulations.
Caroline is also responsible for the management and welfare of the SCL administration team and for managing the contractors who work with SCL.
What is the role and responsibility of the SCL Chief Executive?
- Prepare annual budget for approval by the SCL board of trustees
- Operate within the annual budget and ensure management and HR policies are up-to-date
- Supply regular reports to the SCL trustee board and attend trustee meetings
- In collaboration with the trustees, to develop SCL’s long-term strategy
- Deliver SCL’s business plan
- Build relationships with other organisations to help advance SCL’s aims
- Establish and monitor key indicators of the organisation’s impact and financial health
- Maintain awareness of risks and changes in the external environment that affect SCL
- Ensure SCL’s staff are motivated and focused on achieving SCL’s mission and aims
- Ensure SCL fulfils its legal, statutory and regulatory responsibilities
- Establish mechanisms for listening to the views of SCL members
- Ensure a sustainable income from membership subscriptions and SCL events
- Represent SCL at external events
