SCL Essay Prize 2009

The 2009 SCL Student IT Law Essay Prize has been launched with an exciting new topic but with the same array of attractive prizes both for the winner and the place at which he or she is studying.


The winning student will receive £1,000, a valuable placement with top IT firm DLA Piper LLP and free attendance at the SCL Conference. A further prize is available for the institution at which the winner is studying; it will be given £1,000 to purchase library books in support of IT law teaching and research.


The topic for the 2009 Essay prize is a highly relevant one for students and should engage the interest of anyone with an interest in the impact on society of technological developments. It is ‘Will Social Networking Services survive only at the expense of privacy?’


The purpose of the prize is to reward and acknowledge academic research and writing excellence in the field of UK or EU IT Law.


The closing date for entries is Monday 30 March 2009.
