Finding Your Way Round the New SCL Web Site

The new SCL website is now live. Here is a quick summary of some of the new features available to members on the site.

First things first – how do you get in? You may be required to log in to access some of the features. To log in for the first time, enter your e-mail address (the one we use to send notices of events etc) and your surname as the password. Once you have done this, you can opt to change your password for future use on your Account page.

So, you are now logged in - but what’s new and what’s changed?

Free Online CPD linked to Computers & Law

You can now claim CPD by reading your copy of Computers & Law. To find the courses click on the Training link and then select the Browse All CPD button to the right. You will then see a series of 10 questions with check boxes. Simply select the answers you think are correct and then click the submit button at the bottom of the page. If you have answered 7 or more questions correctly, you can claim an hour of CPD. If not, you can retake as many times as you like. A personal training record of your completed online training is available through your account page for future reference.

Improved Computers & Law Online

The online version of Computers & Law magazine has been revamped so that it is much easier to find the issues and articles you need. A simple drop down list allows you to select an issue or you can browse through an entire list of articles. New content is indexed with keywords that act as single click searches for related content. A text search engine is also provided with options to filter results by date, content type and much more

To find the magazine issues, click on the Library link in the blue bar at the top of the site. The most recent articles (eg those yet to be published in a copy of the magazine but published only online) are to be found by clicking Online only at the end of the list of issues.

Buy conference places and webinars online

A new online booking process means you can now book conferences and webinars online.  You can also pay online if you prefer as we have linked in with the Worldpay secure server for online transactions. Any bookings made online are recorded in your order history available through Your Account page (.

To access Your Account page you need to log in and it will display automatically. If your are already logged in, click on the ‘Your account’ link in the blue bar at the top of the site.

Manage your membership details via your own account page

You can also use the account page to inform us of changes to your personal details or email address. Again you need to log in and then from ‘Your account’ page click the ‘edit your details’ button on the right. Make the changes as necessary and then click save.

RSS Feed

Those of you who do not have time to browse the site can instead take advantage of an rss feed. The feed brings you links to news, events, articles and news items posted over the last seven days.

Of course we also like to think that we have improved the overall look, feel and accessibility of the site but we would welcome any comments and suggestions for improvements in the future.
