Event outline:
This is the third session in our Women in Tech Law Around the World series.

The technology sector is global and tech companies based in Europe have an impact on our working and personal lives. In this session, we will discuss with our panellists their roles in the tech law sector and their journey into tech law. We will also discuss some of the key legal and regulatory challenges facing the technology sector in France, Greece, Ireland and Brussels in 2024.

Speaker Details:

Sue McLean is a partner in Baker McKenzie’s IP, Data and Technology group. Sue advises clients on technology, sourcing and digital media business models and deals, as well as the legal issues relating to the implementation of new technologies. Sue is a trustee and vice chair of SCL and on the committee of the SCL Women in Tech Law group.

Mathilde Croze is the managing Partner and Head of the IT Law Dept at Lerins in Paris, where she specialises in technology, innovation, data privacy and intellectual property as well as tech M&A and regulated digital matters.

Eleni Stathaki is Head of Legal at Upstream, an Athens-based leader in mobile technology that helps businesses grow their digital reach to optimise user experience.  Eleni is the first point of contact for legal matters, identifying and managing the legal risk areas in the company’s operations.

Elisabeth Dehareng is a Partner at Baker McKenzie in Brussels, which she joined in 2003, becoming a partner in 2014.  Elisabeth leads the Belgian IPTech practice and advises clients across all areas of IT, IP and new technology law, with a special focus on data protection and privacy.

Deirdre Kilroy is a Partner at Bird & Bird in Ireland.  She has over 20 years of experience in advising on technology transactions and outsourcing projects, as well as tech/IP/AI/data commercialisation structures, and is an experienced privacy and data practitioner.

Free membership for trainee lawyers and UK students:
SCL provides free membership for trainee lawyers until qualification and for UK students in full-time education with a valid ac.uk email address. Student members are eligible to attend SCL events at concessionary rates where a fee is applicable. Trainee members are entitled to attend SCL events at the standard members’ rate (the concessionary rate for UK students in full-time education does not apply). Trainees and UK students in full-time education can apply to join SCL for free by emailing hello@scl.org
